If you are planning on moving, you have probably given plenty of thought to how you can get your home in tip-top shape in order to put it on the market.  Once your home is listed, you want to be sure it is properly staged so you can increase your chances for a quick sale.  While it is certainly helpful to clean out your home and declutter, there are a few important essentials that every home stager should have on hand.  There is a lot of value in creating an inviting setting for potential home buyers and you want to be sure and fill the space with warm furnishings and stylish accent pieces.  Here are three essential items that are must-haves for home staging.

Rugs

Rugs are a must have accessory for staging your home.  They come in all shapes and sizes and they are a great way to dress up any space.  Rugs immediately make a home feel cozier and more inviting. They are a great way to add color to neutral walls and furniture and they are a fantastic way to showcase hardwood floors.  Rugs should be placed in living areas, kitchens, hallways, and entryways.  You can choose a rug with color, but try to avoid busy patterns that will overwhelm photos of your home and distract buyers.

Flowers

Staged homes should always be graced with fresh flowers.   Not only do they add an appealing fragrance, but they soften and add life to the space.  They are the perfect complement to any room.  In the kitchen, for example, it is recommended to remove most everything from your counters.  However, a vase a fresh flowers adds just the right touch of color and elegance to the space.  Likewise, the main accessory in your dining room needs to be a show-stopping centerpiece which could include a mixture of flowers and candles.  A simple orchid or small succulent makes for an excellent accessory to each of your bathrooms.  You don’t have to spend a fortune running to the florist every week either.  Snip a few blooms from your backyard garden and place them in a vase for a simple arrangement that will make a bold statement.

Lamps

Proper lighting is so important when selling your home.  No one wants to walk into a dark, gloomy room.  Light, both natural and artificial, engages people and draws them in.  Lamps and lighting are hugely important when it comes to showcasing your home to potential buyers.  Lighting has the power to liven up the space, add warmth to the room, and bring a little personality and style to the home.  Lamps are a great way to highlight spaces in your home.  They look lovely on a bedside table and also add warmth and charm to smaller spaces such as bathrooms and hallways.  Lighting your home properly can give it that extra pizazz needed to appeal to buyers.
