Between shopping, cooking, entertaining, gift wrapping and decorating it can be difficult to stay organized during the holidays.  The demands of the holiday season end up taking over and we can easily become overwhelmed with everything going on.  The myriad of parties, travels, and deadlines can bring extra clutter even to the most meticulously kept homes.  This year, take back your home (and the fun of the holidays) by staying organized.  These tips will help you keep each room of your home organized even during the hectic holiday season.

Meticulous Mudroom

There will undoubtedly be plenty of people coming and going during the holidays, and with unpredictable weather this can mean lots of clutter and messes.  You can alleviate this problem by installing a shoe, coat, and storage system in your mudroom or laundry room.  If you don’t have a separate mudroom, you can install this same unit in your garage.  A vertical storage solution will create instant organization for backpacks, purses, umbrellas, boots and shoes.  This is the perfect place for guests to store their things during your holiday parties or get-togethers.

Gift Wrap Storage

Tis the season for gift wrapping and that can mean rolls of wrapping paper, ribbons, bows, and rolls of tape scattered throughout the house.  To keep all of your gift wrap materials under control, consider a gift wrap storage solution or gift wrap cart.  Not only will this keep all of your supplies neatly organized in one place, but it will keep them from getting bent, damaged, or wrinkled.

Clean the House Before Decorating

When the house is messy and cluttered, adding holiday decorations is a nightmare.  If you want to stay organized this holiday season, start by giving your house a good clean.  You might even declutter a bit and donate any unwanted items.  Decorating will be much more enjoyable and your décor will really stand out when your house is clean and cutter free.

Throw Out Old Decorations

Chances are you have collected loads of Christmas decorations over the years and let’s be honest, half of them probably aren’t looking their best.  Throw out old, broken, dingy decorations.  They won’t be adding any holiday cheer to your home and they are just taking up valuable storage space in your home.

Consider a Portable Storage Unit

The holidays are a time for friends, family, and lots and lots of stuff!  Between serving platters and dishware for entertaining, gift wrapping supplies, holiday décor, outdoor lights and décor, and all of the gifts you will be purchasing it’s no wonder the house begins to feel cluttered this time of year.  Renting a storage unit can be the answer you have been looking for.  No more climbing through the attic trying to reach those decorations or sifting through every closet in the house looking for your holiday serving platters.  A storage unit is the perfect solution for keeping all of your holiday items neatly organized and easily accessible.  You can have peace of mind knowing that your home is clutter free and all of your holiday items are safe and secure in a storage unit.
