There is no question that moving is one of the most stressful, exhausting, and strenuous experiences for most people.  There is nothing easy about spending several long hours lifting heavy boxes and furniture, which is why many people choose to hire professional moving companies.  While these people are professionals at what they do and are getting paid for the job, there is still no doubt that it is a tough and exhausting task for them as well.  If you experience excellent service, professionalism, and a team who has helped to make your move as smooth as possible, it is only natural to want to show your appreciation for their hard work.  Here are a few ways to thank your movers for a job well done.

  1. Offer Refreshments   A great way to show appreciation to your movers is to consider their needs.  Chances are they are going to get hot and thirsty throughout the day so it would be a kind gesture to provide bottled water, tea, or soft drinks to keep them hydrated.  This will also help to keep their energy level high allowing them to be more productive.
  2. Buy Them Lunch   It is important to remember that while movers are professionals, they are not robots.  They, too, will get tired and hungry as the day goes on.  Offering to buy them lunch is a great way to say thank-you while also giving them some much needed energy.
  3. Provide a Comfortable Place to Relax   Depending on the size of your move, your movers may need to take a few breaks throughout the day or a longer lunch break.  Many people forget that movers need to take breaks too, so they end up resting in the back of their truck just to get a little shade.  You can make their break time more comfortable by setting out a few chairs on a shaded patio or in your yard.
  4. Praise Their Work   If you have been pleased with your mover’s work and the way they have handled the move it is only natural to want to express your gratitude.  Saying “thank you” goes a long way and can really make your movers feel appreciated.  Acknowledge them for arriving on time, acting friendly and respectful, treating your belongings with care, and working efficiently.
  5. Tip Them   You are certainly not required to tip your movers, but if you feel like they did a good job and made your move a smoother process the best way to reward them is with a tip.  While they will be grateful for the cold drinks and hot lunch, few things say “thanks” better than cash.
  6. Contact Their Employer   If you are pleased with the job your movers did it is always a great idea to contact their employer and let them know.  This way the moving company can reward the workers appropriately.  It only takes a simple phone call to make a big difference.
  7. Write a Good Review   Finding a few extra minutes to leave a positive customer review on the company’s website can be very beneficial for them.  This will help them get more business in the future and help your movers secure their jobs.
  8. A Referral   Most moving companies will appreciate a referral if you have been pleased with their performance.  You can leave a referral on a website such as Yelp or you can actually refer other family and friends.  Word of mouth is one the most important ways for moving companies to increase their business.

If you are looking for ways to show appreciation to your movers, all of these are excellent ideas for thanking your movers for their hard work and professionalism.
