Warmer weather is upon us and spring has finally arrived.  That can only mean one thing…it’s time for a vacation!  Chances are you have been juggling work, sports practices, homework, and meal planning for the past several months and this is finally your chance to breathe for a few days.  However, planning a family trip to the beach can be a daunting task, especially when you still have so much going on at home.  That said, the whole point of a spring break vacation is to enjoy an entire week free of work and school stress, and planning your getaway should be just as carefree.  That’s why we put together a checklist of everything you are going to need for your beach vacation.  We have taken the guesswork out of packing and have compiled a list of all the things you are going to need to enjoy the ultimate spring break at the beach!

Clothing
It is the beach and that means that the weather can be a little unpredictable.  Pack several pairs of shorts and t-shirts.   You will probably be comfortable and casual most of the time. You should also bring along one pair of jeans or long pants and a light jacket in case it gets chilly at night.  Pack one or two dressier outfits for going out to eat.  You will probably be wearing mostly sandals and flip-flops, but you might want to throw in a pair of tennis shoes in case you plan to do some walking.  Don’t forget pajamas and loungewear for the evenings.

Water Essentials
Bring a couple of bathing suits, especially for the kids.  You don’t want to be putting on wet suits that haven’t dried completely.  Bring several large beach towels so you will always have extra while the others are drying. Pack plenty of sunscreen and make sure it is waterproof.  You might also consider hats, sunglasses, and other protective wear for the kids.  Finally, you will need a large beach bag that can carry your hats, sunscreen, sunglasses, and small water accessories. If you have small children, you will want to bring lifejackets are water wings for safety.

Beach Toys/Accessories
You can’t go to the beach without a few fun beach accessories.  You will want an umbrella and at least 2 beach chairs for lounging.  Bring a small cooler for storing drinks so you can stay hydrated in the sun.  Of course you can’t forget about the kids.  Goggles, boogie boards, sand buckets and shovels, and a football or volleyball are a must for any beach vacation.  Finally, you might consider bringing a small speaker so you can enjoy music while sitting on the beach.

Other Essentials
Don’t forget your camera! You won’t want to miss capturing those adorable beach photos.  You should also remember to pack any medications you might need as well as all necessary toiletry items.  You will also want to pack your phone charger and any other portable electronics that might keep your kiddos occupied for the car or plane trip.

You are probably in a hurry to hop in the car and escape the stress but taking the time to plan and pack carefully will make for a stress-free vacation.  This checklist includes everything you will need to kick back, relax, and enjoy a worry free trip.  All you need to do now is start packing and get ready to make some lasting memories with your family!
