There are many different types of storage options available that one must compare when shopping for storage services. From attics to storage units, all potential options must be considered when attempting to perform a successful relocation. Often times, many people elect to go with a storage unit to protect their belongings while changing locations. With this in mind, movers everywhere often look for ways to keep these units organized during the relocation process. Below, you’ll find five great ways to organize your storage unit effectively during the moving process.

Order the Correct Number of Storage Units- One of the first steps to keeping everything organized when it comes to the storage process is making sure you purchase the correct number of units needed to make your move a success. In order to do this, you must do your research and consider all of the items that you plan to store. Don’t forget about the garage, basement or all of those closets when determining how much space you will need. Get on the Internet, ask around, and/or make phone calls. You will find that there is a wealth of valuable information out there to consider. Many times companies will have an online estimator that will tell you exactly how many storage units you may need.

Have Plenty of Interior Space- When it comes to choosing the proper storage unit, one thing you will want to be mindful of is the amount of space the unit has inside. Try to find an option that provides you with an easy access entrance and allows you the opportunity to store your items neatly away in all areas of the unit. Crammed and tightly packed storage containers do more harm than good at the end of the day.

Use a Racking System- Depending on how tall the ceiling of your storage unit is, the use of racks may be realistic option. This will work well if you have several small containers that you are using to store things inside your unit. Ideally, the smaller containers can be racked easier if they are the same shape and size. This method will allow you to find things quickly and efficiently.

Stack Heaviest to Lightest- If you choose to stack things, remember to stack your heaviest items on the bottom of your storage unit. If the containers are properly stacked from heaviest to lightest, it’s unlikely for things to fall over or smaller items to be crushed.

Create a Clear a Path- Always try to keep things organized in such a way that allows for a walking path through your storage unit. Not only will this keep your storage unit nice and neat, but it will also help to prevent possible injuries due to unnecessary clutter on the floor of your storage unit.

The better organized you are the easier your overall relocation experience will be. If you would like more information about our company or you would like to partner with us, contact us today at 1-877-627-8269.
