Spring is a time for fresh air, beautiful blooming flowers, and a sense a renewal.  It’s no wonder we get inspired to carry the freshness of this season into our homes.  Spring cleaning is the perfect way to get organized and make your home as lovely as the season itself. Finding the right solution for organizing your home can make such a difference in the appearance and functionality of your home.  Here are four organizing solutions that can help you clean, organize, and rejuvenate your home.

Get Rid of the Clutter
For some people, the decluttering process can be one of the most stressful because they are unsure of where to start and what to get rid of.  Take it one room at a time.  Don’t worry if you don’t finish the whole house in a day.  It is better to take the time to do it right then to rush through the job and still have unnecessary clutter in your home.  This is one of the most important parts of getting organized because it will free up so much extra space in your home.  As for what to get rid of, a good rule of thumb is this: If you don’t love it and you don’t use it then its clutter!   Don’t be afraid to get ruthless with this process.  The more you declutter the less you will have to clean and the more harmonious your life will be.  Discarding unwanted items will give you much more space to get neat and organized.

Get Storage Savvy
One of the biggest reasons our homes go awry is because we don’t have a designated place for all of our things.  Giving your things a “home” is the best way to get organized and stay that way.  Plastic containers are fabulous because they come in a variety of shapes and sizes and they are relatively inexpensive.  Use wide, flat containers for storing items such as seasonal clothing under your bed.  Stack containers in your closet for shoes and accessories.  Use smaller containers to organize the contents within drawers such as pens, notepads, small tools, etc. You can even turn storage into style by housing towels or magazines in wicker baskets.  Grab a few glass jars and chalk and you have an adorable way to organize your kitchen pantry. Finally use hooks wherever needed.  They are great in closets to house jewelry and they are also ideal in laundry rooms for hanging brooms, mops, and ironing boards.

Don’t Underestimate the Power of a Shelf
Adding shelves is a great way to provide storage in just about any room.  Use decorative shelves with hooks or pegs in your kitchen for storing mugs, pot and pans, or cooking utensils.  Add some shelving to you living room to make space for books, pictures, and other decorative items.  Finally, your closets could always use a little more space for storage.  Adding shelves to your closets makes room for those bulky sweaters, bags, shoes, and other personal items that might not have a designated spot.

Glam Up your Garage
We oftentimes get so caught up in organizing the inside of our homes that we forget about the outside.  Your garage does not have to be used for parking only.  Taking the time to organize your garage will open up so much great space for storage.  Use the same solutions as you would on the inside of your home for your garage as well.  Decluttering, using labeled containers, and adding hooks and shelves can turn your garage it a perfectly organized storage space.  Use hooks for hanging jackets, bags, and muddy boots.  You can also use hooks for hanging bikes, rakes, shovels, and other outdoor tools which will open up so much space for storing larger items. Place smaller items in containers on your shelves and store toys in bins or boxes that can be easily accessed.

It’s time to get organized and there is no better time than spring.  If you follow these helpful tips, your home will feel as fresh as this beautiful spring weather.  You will be ready to sit back, sip some lemonade, and enjoy the season.
