Boynton Beach was originally founded on September 26, 1898 when Byrd Spilman Dewey and her husband filed a plan in the Dade County courthouse for the town of Boynton. The town was later incorporated in 1920 under that name. The permanent name of Boynton Beach officially began to stick with the area in 1941.
From the 1920’s to present day, Boynton Beach Oceanfront Park has been very popular for both residents and guests. In the mid 1990’s, the park underwent a major renovation and was eventually named the best family beach area in Palm Beach County. Continuous improvements throughout the city has helped Boynton Beach become a very popular destination within the state.
